[HANASHIR:3015] Re: Exclusive or not?

Hi Carol,

It is so difficult to make something approaching a full time salary when you
are a song leader, choir director, part-time cantorial soloist. I have
taken my cues from other professional musicians. After all, I started out
like that -- doing gigs here and there -- and still continue to take work I
like when it is offered at a time which fits into my schedule. It is not
unusual for me to teach/perform for five different employers a week. The
"signature" at the bottom of this message ought to give you a clue.

In my opinion, it seems unreasonable for a synagogue to insist on
exclusivity unless they can offer you a full time salary you can live on.

Good luck with this, Carol,

Rachelle
