[HANASHIR:2862] Re: Friedmanconcert

Regarding Meris's question on "nonmusical" lesson plans:

I taught a course in which we listened to contemporary Jewish music,
identified and studied the text, and then discussed whether the music fit
the meaning of the text. I was teaching a high school group, but this
could be tailored to fit any grade. You would just need to provide the
music and some notes for the teacher to use. It's difficult to get the
students to separate what they like from what fits the text, but they can
do it with some coaxing. If more than one artist has music for the same
text, the older students can do comparisons of the music.

Good luck.
