[HANASHIR:2390] RE: keyboards and software

If you are not interested in publication quality transcriptions, then any
low end music transcription software will do. Some sound cards even come
with transcription software (particularly the Voyetra/Turtle Beach cards.)

However, if you want publication quality, Finale is really the only way to
go. It takes work and effort, but you won't run into all those spacing and
notation issues, once you learn to use it. It is, however, quite expensive.

As for keyboards, any General Midi capable keyboard will do. Look for the
General Midi certification.

nana- how did you decide which software to buy. does anyone have any other
suggestions? which is easiest to use. I don't want to do full orchestral
scoring, but I would like something that will do choral arranging and
transposing at an instant so that I could add instrumental embellishments.
Nothing sounds better than to sit down at a keyboard, play and have it just
come out printed. I'm sure it's not that easy, and the scores I've seen that
were computer generated sometimes have a hard time putting in the words.
what are the recommendations out there? for software? for keyboard? ellen
