[HANASHIR:1641] Chava Alberstein's Chad Gadya, anyone?

Israeli Music Fans, help me out with this one?
(Laura and Ze'ev Harari, maybe???)...

I was very fortunate to see a wonderful concert a few weeks ago, with Chava
Alberstein and the Klezmatics, two of my favorite Jewish music acts on the
road today...they have just recorded an album of Yiddish songs called "The
Well" which contains music written by Chava to lyrics of Yiddish poetry,
etc, which she performs with the Klezmatics.

Anyhow, Chava did a set by herself, (and I'm telling you, she is
phenomenal! I saw her a couple of years ago doing a solo concert when she
came to Stanford, and even though I was sitting close to the back row, she
completely mezmerized me!) and she once again performed her rendition of
"Chad Gadya." She uses the same words up to a point as the folk song, and
has composed a driving new melody. Her rendition of the song focuses on
the cycle of violence the words portray, and at the end of the cycle (when,
she notes, the Angel of Death ultimately emerges victorious), the words
become her own, commenting on the cycle. Amazing. I have a recording of
this song, but it is a tape of someone else's album (Oh the horror!) and do
not have the words. My hebrew is improving but is not good enough to be
able to transcribe from a tape...does anyone have the words, or know which
one of her CD's has the libretto?

Much appreciation-
Joanna
