Ok, I see your point. However, many of us teach songs in Ladino or
Yiddish (or other languages not necessarily Jewish-related) without being
fluent in those languages. And those among us who are Ashkenazic
teach Sephardic melodies. This does not strike me as illegitiimate or
taking
the language/melodies out of context.
