I agree that the songwriters and musicians deserve remuneration for
their work.  Which is why ASCAP and BMI are such dismal failures.
They distibute fees based on record sales, so the musicians to whom
I listen get just about nothing from the coffeehouses which play their
music.  The system steals from the poor to benefit the rich- it's just
one more abuse.  So it's hard for me to get worked up to worry about
whether some big rock groups get a few more dollars.
