Yes, I agree with you about this, Alice.
I was one of those kids. But in spite of that the traditional melodies
stayed in my mind/heart waiting to be revived again years later -- in
different congregations miles away from home where the traditional melodies
were being sung. Kids need both traditional and creative melodies, I think.
