the most "correct" greeting for Chanukah is actually chag urim sameach (happy
festival of lights) - yes, chag sameach is reserved for the 3 pilgrimage
festivals - sukkot, pesach and shavuot, specifically the first and last days,
which are yom tov. during chol hamo-ed (the intermediate days), it is
customary
to say "moadim l'simcha".
"chanukah sameach" is fine for chanukah too... just means happy chanukah!
and since someone is bound to ask this question in a couple of months, the
traditional greeting for Purim is "simchat purim".
