Subject: [HANASHIR:15896] Computer Specs

Hi - I have been offered a brand, new Dell computer from a donor at my
congregation. I believe the top $$ amount for hardware and software is
$1500. It will be networked to my aging laptop (266 mHz) and HP PSC 2100. I
have a donated desktop which will be added to the network - it's not
paticularly fast, won't run heavy grapics, etc., but is solid for some
basics. I currently only have land-line internet access (I know, slow - but
one thing at a time!)

I'm computer literate, so I know of the general things to ask for. It's the
odd thing or two about which I have questions.

1. How can I take cassette tapes of a congregational tutor chanting liturgy
and turn them into music files that I can then burn onto CD's?
2. How can I take these same cassette tapes and turn them into Finale-type
files that I can use to print out music?
3. What do I need to ask for now in terms of being able to set up a
keyboard for MIDI input/output?
4. What kind of keyboard, in the modest price range, should I be
considering?

Thanks for any and all suggestions.
