In fact there are many orthodox yeshiva bands. one of the most famous - and
probably amongst the first of this type - being the Diaspora Yeshiva Band
hailing from the Diaspora Yeshiva in Israel. Avraham Rosenblum still
performs - he lives in MD now. Ruby Harris - great fiddler, now lives in
Chicago. Ben Zion Solomon, a Breslover, has been reviving Breslov music for
some years now - still lives on Moshav Modiin - Carlebach's Israeli home
site. All these people can be found on the web. There are some other great
orthodox groups and singers: Chaim David - originally from South Africa and
still in Israel, Yehuda Glantz - originally from Argentina - singing really
fine upbeat Latin style orthodox Jewish music. I could go on - but I really
would like to mention TOFA'AH - of which I was a member for 15 years. All
woman's orthodox band - music by women for women because they follow the
halachah of "kol isha" - still going strong and still living in Israel!

Look them all up. I have recordings if you can't find them on the web!
