[HANASHIR:14606] Re: 60s Folk Music

Hi All,

When I read Jeff's message regarding 60's Folk Music, I was going to respond
just to him about the coincidental timing of his message. At the time, I was
preparing to do a 60's Folk Music concert the very next night at a nature
center in our town. I was too busy to send a message immediately but now that
the
concert is over, I felt I needed to respond to our Hava Nashira community.
One, of course, to agree with Jeff's comments but, after Saturday night, I
respond with a thank you to all of you.

My goal with the concert was to share songs of the 60's and a few others and
also, to have the audience feel comfortable and sing along when possible
(which they did quite a bit of). Well, as I sang, I felt an overwhelming joy
and
sense of community with a group which was made up of a few friends but the
rest, total strangers. Believe it or not, there was a bit of the HN spirit
present in that room (and even a little harmony!). I can only attribute that
to two
things: the songs, but more important, to what I've learned from all of you!
It's hard to put it into words, but watching each and every faculty member as
they worked with us, and each and every one of you who got up to lead
services, song sessions and share your own music has been an inspiration beyond
belief. With the theme being the 60's, songs of peace and the environment, I
even
added in a Sim Shalom and did a nuggun with them (which they loved!).

So, thanks again to each and every one of you for your inspiration and
feeling of community. I even had a woman come up to me and say, "Thank you,
I'd
forgotten how beautiful a guitar can sound. At our church, they just bang away
at their guitars!" And another said, "I can really tell that you enjoy doing
this." What I really enjoy is sharing a little of Hava Nashira wherever I go!

B'shalom,
Fran Moss
