With this subject of "folk" songs, I have a question....When I was the music
director at the JCC Day Camp, I always added folk songs (Hammer, B in the
Wind) - in fact, "Sailing Up, Sailing Down," made it to Camp Coleman from one
of
my counselors a number of years ago. However, I've always been hesitant to add
to curriculum at Sunday School (I teach all grades (K-7) 1-2 times per month).
I do mostly tyg songs - prayers, etc. (not traditional prayers)....all grades
love their music time....we leave the doors open for everyone to hear....I
leave the other for Hebrew School teachers. Does anyone add folk music to their
curriculum in this type of environment, and if you do, which ones? Thanks!
