[HANASHIR:12562] Re: Modim

I use the Jeff Klepper "Modim Anachnu Lach" alternatively with Rachelle
Nelson's. As Rachelle's parents, brother, and sister-in-law are congregants
and regular attendees of my Temple, I include "a good bit" of her music in
every one of my services. Her family derives endless pleasure from hearing
her music utilized. The Klepper is fantastic, and lends itself to many
interpretations. Try modulating up a half step for the repeat, and try
turning the last few measures into an ad lib repetitive gospel funk. It
takes well to a jazz feel, and the addition of a drummer of any sort.

I have been alternating between singing Rachelle Nelson's pretty Modim
Anachnu Lach and chanting the traditional melody from Zamru Lo. After doing
this for some time I notice that people rarely sing along with either of
them and I would love to find another melody that would invite more
participation. Any suggestions?

By the way, the comments on incorporating prof. singers with a volunteer
choir have been most helpful and I thank all who shared their experiences.

Thanks,
Rachelle
