[HANASHIR:11411] v'sham'ru pronunciation

Speaking of pronunciation, I am teaching my choir to sing the word hash'vi-i in 
V'sham'ru not as hashevi-i but as hash-vi-i even though the music in the South 
African melody in Gates of Song implies the first.  Am I correct or is it 
another question of tomayto or tomahto?
