[HANASHIR:10532] Re: ? about art

A few things come to mind re: art in the Torah. One would be to make
stained
glass art work of various kinds. You can get kits in art supply stores and then
adapt the applications to Torah themes. Then, another project I've seen
recently
is the Chabad Torah factory at which they bring all the supplies and help the
kids make pretty sophisticated mezzuzzot out of copper tubing and etching
designs
as well as teach them about what goes into making the kosher scrolls, etc. Just
call your nerest Chabad house and ask about it. It is relatively inexpensive.
Another project is to find a calligrapher or someone who makes ketubas, etc.,
and
have them design a teaching project for the kids. They can learn about Hebrew
calligraphy and take home something pretty.
Also, go to the CAJE web site and look around for art curricular material,
or
ask for name sof artists you could get hold of.
Also, if any of your temple board members belong to Temple Chat, you might
want to field the question through that.
    Have fun!!!
