I happen to find some of the extraneious information useful and interesting,
and I myself would not leave the list because of a little digression, which
is all related to Judaism. What I think is discouraging is the extraneious
repeated text and code. I belong to several listserves and this is the only
one that has all this extraneious repeated text. On of the most helpul
listserves I belong to (an Apple users group), all the writers (at least most
of them) when responding put the topic of the response in the subject
heading, so that if it is one of non interest, it can be deleted instead of
taking the time to read it. Even responding to digests, changing the subject
line to reflect the topic makes a BIG difference in the amount of time I
spend reading.
