[HANASHIR:8411] Re: torn about Hava Nashira this year

Thanks Judy for putting it so beautifully - I too sent in my application,
trusting that the energy, spirit and talent we all bring with us when we come
together - is what makes the Hava Nashira experience so magical. I agree with
Adrian that we need the spiritual aspect of our "craft" to be nourished, and
very sad about the absence of Danny Maseng. I think we will have to create that
kind of "space" on our own - if it's not on the official curriculum. My guess
is that it WILL happen, and I have a feeling that this HN will be fantastic!

Hope to see you all,

Shirona

I also thought long and hard about attending Hava Nashira this summer. I
certainly do work with families and children, but at this stage of my
professional life, I am performing for families and children and teaching
teachers more than directly teaching the children in the classroom. I am
saddened to see that Danny Maseng will not be there this year to learn from and
be inspired by. However, I personally go to Hava Nashira for two main reasons
- 1) for myself - it is the one time a year, I can STOP doing for others and
nourish my own spiritual being by being with a community who truly understands
the power of music and 2) to see the wealth of new talent that is out there and
be wowed by it; to encourage new songleaders, teachers, and ultimately
performers who will continue to share our heritage through song.

Although the focus of Hava Nashira may seem on paper to have "changed", we
all know that it is the people who make Hava Nashira what it is. It is the
power and the aura that is created by each soul in attendance -- a new recipe
every year.

So, I have sent in my registration, and I am looking forward to attending.
This year, more than ever, I need the energy of this wonderful extended family
in my life. I am sure I will learn and grow, I also hope to be able to leave
something of what I have to share with the group, and I want to see old friends
(so, Rick and Rick, I hope you are there for selfish reasons).

Looking forward to seeing many of you soon.

  Judy :)
