I'm not sure whom you can ask about what is 'age-appropriate' in this
context. Even the Project Manginot Guidelines book wasn't of great use in
helping me plan my program last year.
I think asking good songleaders 'What works?' for a given age group would be
more practical that someone with an M.Ed. (which is what I infer from the
term "Educator"). Also, I think a core curriculum of basic songs (which my
kids last year were sorely lacking) is crucial, strategically supplemented by
more recent compositions.
Regarding certification, you can certify someone's mastery of the knowledge
tested-for at that point in time, but you can not determine someone's
'talent' (either musical or talent for teaching) by a certification process.
And, in a field where there seems to be a widespread shortage of talented
people, the basic problem for temples is finding out who is interested and
available, let alone talented.
