Jill,
Yesterday there were rallies held in New York City and Hartford, Ct.
to show our support for the land of Israel.
Here's what I'm reading tonight at our Shabbat service:
This evening as we gather for Succot
we are preoccupied by the threat of war which hovers,
like a dark storm cloud, over the Middle East.
We grieve for the loss of life
and for the senseless destruction.
We grieve for the young Israeli soldiers who
must confront children with rocks in their hands,
youngsters who are encouraged to lay their lives
down as martyrs by misguided leaders and their parents,
who learn from the time that they can talk, that their
neighbor is their enemy.
In this time of trial and tribulation, we stand by our
brothers and sisters in the land of Israel, fully aware of the
difficult choices they are forced to make.
May this holiday of Succot truly be a day when
we can learn to be at One with one another.
So may it be Your will.
Amen
Ken
