Bravo to the author of this post.  How right he is.  But one addition.. in
many cases the faculty at JTS or HUC is the same faculty that teaches at the
Academy or other Rabbinical Schools.

Here in Las Vegas, the Rabbinical Association won't accept anyone not
ordained from one of the big 4--  thus leaving out 5 or 6 pulpit Rabbis in
their "Rabbinical stands and statements.

My belief is that if a congregation wants a Rabbi, regardless of where the
Rabbi received smicha, that should be sufficient.

Cantors, at least, have a way of studying on their own and getting
accredited.
