dont forget that if the child is smaller you might want to sugest getting a 
smaller guitar (i mean not getting a full size guitar)  i started later so i 
bought a bigger guitar but i started violin at 5 (and i was too small for any 
violin) but i would have been very frustrated if my fingers, which have 
always been small, couldnt reach every string when i was younger and when a 
child gets frustrated they are more likely to quit.  I really dont know how 
big the child is because 11 is an age where some are almost fully grown and 
some havent started growing.  I hope this helps.
