James Brown was discovered by King Records owner Sydney Nathan in 1956.
Syd Nathan also produced what may well have been the first klezmer LP ever:
"Tantz: A Collection of Gay Jewish Dance Music" with Hymie Jacobson And His
Orchestra (King/DeLuxe 265-18). This was a 10-inch 33-1/3 RPM issued circa
1952 with the following six tracks:
Side A: 1. Russian Sher 2. Doina And Skotchna 3. Voloch And Frailachs
Side B: 1. Yiddish Bulgar 2. Mazinke, Schweger, Potch 3. Palestinian
