Subject: Correcting a Defamation of Torah in Classical Music
In March, 2004, The Jewish Music Institute in London accepted my
presentation of an archive of correspondence, musical scores and other
documents relating to the correction of a defamation of Torah occurring
in a work by Sir Benjamin Britten, Cantata Misericordium.
This event, unique in classical music history, took place in the 1980s.
In 1999 an article authored by listmember Professor Marsha Bryan Edelman
regarding this correction appeared in Journal of Synagogue Music.
I would be happy to hear individually from researchers, chorus directors
and others interested in more information.
