A MUSICAL SURVEY OF THE HISTORY OF MODERN ISRAEL

A MUSICAL SURVEY OF THE HISTORY OF MODERN ISRAEL - Congregation Sons of Israel
and Pleasantville Community Synagogue invite you to a unique Israeli cafe-style
evening celebrating Israeli Music on Saturday, March 27th from 8-10 p.m. As you
nosh on humous, pita, nuts, dried fruit and other Israeli finger foods, Jewish
Music expert Bob Wiener will explore modern Israel through popular styles of
music including Israeli, American rock-and-roll, French cabaret, and
Palestinian. He will bring clips of music representing the halutzim (pioneers),
the mahteret (Jewish underground), the creation of the State, the Six Day War,
the Yom Kippur War, the Eurovision competition, and the Intifada. The songs,
both familiar and unfamiliar, convey the feeling of different periods of
Israel's modern history (from 1882 until today). Original texts, translations,
and transliterations will be supplied, so we can all sing along. There will
also be live music, Israeli dancing and other surprises. This
evening is free of charge, but seating is limited, so RSVP early to (914)
762-2700 or office (at) csibriarcliff(dot)org(dot) This event will take place
at Congregation Sons of Israel, 1666 Pleasantville Road in Briarcliff Manor
(Westchester, NY).

Note: I have been told that 100 reservations have already been received, so
RSVP soon if you are interested.
