Banet family (was Re: A bedeken question)

The Banets seem to still be very active today putting out music, tho more
and more under thier own names (Chaim and/or Rudy Banet) and not under the
name of thier branch of Visnitz. Many of thier newer records are available
in Monsey, where Visnitz is pretty strong. I can't honestly say I enjoy
much of thier newer stuff. But yeah, that old red and blue "Ranenu Chasidim"
recording is a real classic in my book - I find the Ani Ma'amin to be stunning
in its arrangement - but I've always been a sucker for schmaltz. The layered
vocal, the sweeping 101 strings...

This business of putting out Chassidic music under a persons name rather
than as a community seems to be pretty universal at this point, except
for Gerer - who still put out CDs of new liturgical music for every
significant holiday - and of course Chabad/Lubavitch.

Unfortunatly, almost no concerts ever in Monsey. I was told Schwecky tried
to give one and the Ravs put a ban on him for it. Back in Flatbush, they'd
never stand for it. Which is, of course, part of why the Rocklanders
went to Rockland.
