Shabbat Shalom

There's a tune to the words "Shabbat Shalom" that I've heard sung pretty widely 
in the States, especially by kids with a "Hey!".  
Shabbat shalom (hey), shabbat shalom (hey), shabbat (3x), shabbat shalom....
Is it sung more widely -- for example, in Western Europe?  
Does anyone know its musical history?  
Would anyone muse on "Jewishness" of the melody -- possible connections to 
other Jewish music?
BTW, neither Judith Kaplan Eisenstein's book nor the Harvard Hillel Sabbath 
Songbook mentions it.
