traveling with CD's to sell and declare

Does anyone have recent experiences with traveling to Canada with CD's to
sell at a festival or the like? I've never had to do this and my first
experience
is about to happen in a week, teaching/performing in Nova Scotia. Can I pack
them in a suitcase to actually go through baggage, i.e., not carry-on? Do you
alert "them" when checking in by telling them what's in the suitcase or do
they simply search and discover on their own? Do they then give you a slip
authorizing your selling and then you declare the amount sold when you return?
Also,
about how much should I expect to pay??
Thanks for any help, off or on list!
