I own a CD "Chants des Synagogues: La Haggada" by Samy Elmaghribi & Ses
Enfant (CDA France 1998) (51'26). Is the CD below identical?
Bob
Samy Elmaghribi: "Haggadah de Pessah" (Azoulay Bros.)
Elmaghribi, who is from North Africa as his name suggests, has a
sweeter voice than Amar and is a superb oud player. Where Amar
has an adult male chorus behind him, Maghribi works with a group of
adolescent boys (thankfully, not the saccharine-voiced chirpers one
usually hears on Jewish music recordings these days), and guides
listeners through the entire seder. The result is an excellent
introduction to another version of this familiar material and, at 59
minutes, as generous a helping as you'd get from your own mother.
AAAAA
