MICHAEL ALPERT APRIL 6-8  
An internationally renowned expert on Klezmer music and Eastern European
Jewish culture. Alpert, who lives in New York City, is a pioneering figure
of the Klezmer Revival, celebrated for his performances and recordings with
the Klezmer bands Brave Old World, Kapelye and others.

  $50 for 50 minutes; pre-registration required

Jeanette Lewicki studied Klezmer accordion and Yiddish singing tradition
with masters in New York City and Europe. She is a long-standing member of
the San Francisco Klezmer Experience, The Gonifs, and Max & Minka Accordion
Spy Duo, which has just released a new CD. <http://www.maxminka.com> 

Her numerous musical accomplishments include being co-producer, translator,
accordionist and co-arranger for My Hometown Soroke, a collection of
Yiddish Songs of the Ukraine performed by Arkady Gendler and recorded by
the Jewish Music Festival. Recently, she was featured in "Nu Vaudeville," a
production of San Francisco's A Traveling Jewish Theater. 

Jeanette has been a familiar figure on the scene in the Bay Area; however,
because of (joyful) changes in her life, she is about to relocate to New
York City. This will be one of her last appearances on the West Coast
before the move.
