RE: Barry Humphries

Barry Humphries is remarkably interested and knowledgeable about music
suppressed by the Third Reich. He is a Patron of JMI and was host of the
day at the South Bank Centre called Thwarted Voices: Music Suppressed by the
Third Reich. He personally introduced the Max Brand's Opera, Maschinist
Hopkins from the stage. He has great regard for the music of Weimar
Germany. He was a personal friend of Mischa Spoliansky in London. When
interviewed for London's Evening Standard who asked him 'what do you think
Hitler would have made of Dame Edna?' answered, 'I think he might probably
have quite liked her, until he found out she was Jewish!

Dame Edna is the alter ego of Barry Humphries. Oddly enough (or not,
maybe), he's not a "drag queen", but straight as a pin. He's very good, but
Fagin? Hard to imagine, but I'd be dead curious to see that production.
