I have been asked to present a concert at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall of
folk fiddlers of the world early March/April 2004. I wonder if list members
would have some advice or could recommend your top favourite Folk fiddlers
that you think should be included if at all possible - in any genre of non
Western music. This concert will be part of a major Violin Festival called
'The Genius of the Violin' which includes the Yehudi Menuhin Competition for
young Violinists.
I look forward to seeing your responses

Subject: Re: Irish/Jewish Music continued
I've been reading everyone's post with great interest, not realizing so many
fuse the two musics of Irish and Klezmer. What I really wish to know is if
anyone knows if there is specific traditional music - modes, tunes - of the
Irish Jews, just as eastern Europe has its own sound and tunes. Might there
be an old publication that might include some of these tunes? Old field
work?
Recordings?
