Re: Mayor of Dublin.

MUCHO MAZEL TO EVERYONE IN THE NEW YEAR AND AS ALWAYS A GUT SHABBOS!!!

Let's try this one again shall we???

Briscoe was the Mayor of Dublin. He was descended from Sephardim and was Jewish. He daughter however became a Nun.

De Valera was also descended from Sephardim. However, his family had become conversos(converted to Catholicism) at least a century before.

During the Spanish, Portuguese and Italian(well parts of Italy, because there was no established Italy for many years)Inquistions, many Sephardim fled into England, Wales, Ireland. and Holland...as well as other areas like Prussia and the Asiatic.  So that's almost 300 years of people moving about.

There has been a Jewish Community in various parts of Ireland for at least 250 years if not longer. Especially in Ulster and Dublin. Brendan Behan in THE BORSTRAL BOY, refers to Jews and Mormons.

Many Irish Jews have left Ireland because of the Political and Economic Climate and made aliyah to Israel or gone to Australia.

Signed,

Trudi Goodman LIR(Lepracohen in Residence)

By the Way...that was the name of the group that Statman and Denaan(I'm sure that I haven't spelled that right) put together  THE LEPRACOHENS. I remember seeing them perform as such at the Berklee Music Center almost 20 years ago! AND THEY ROCKED!!!
