Yes - Chanukah is almost here! (first night is the Friday after Thanksgiving - Nov. 29 - 24 kislev.) Di bostoner klezmer is pleased to announce a klezmer and Chanukah concert on Sunday December 1 celebrating the holiday.
It will be a fun day for young and old - storytelling by Betty Lehrer starts at 11:00 A.M., more stories - and latkes - with Rabbi Lieberman from 1:00 to 2:00 and from 2:00 to 3:00 di bostoner klezmer's concert of Yiddish, Ladino and traditional Chanuka songs as well as klezmer music.
Where: Cape Cod's Heritage Plantation of Sandwich (directions below)
67 Grove Street, Sandwich, MA
- an hour south of Boston - less from the South Shore and
Rhode Island!
Phone: 508-888-3300
di bostoner klezmer will be complemented by the lively vocals of Cantor Sally Neff, she'll also sing her original lyrics to "Rockin' Dreydl."
Heritage Plantation of Sandwich has a neat antique car collection housed in a reproduction round Shaker barn as well as exhibitions of Native American artifacts, antique toys, art (weathervanes, Americana - and a carosel!), as well as baseball memorabilia of a Cape Cod farm team that's produced some famous players. Admission to the day's events is included in the museum entrance, which is $11 for adults, $9 for seniors, and $5.50 for kids. (Prices include AAA discount) Kids under 5 are free.
Directions:
from 128 and Route 3 South Take Route 3 to Sagamore Bridge. Once over the bridge, you'll be on Route 6. Exit 2 is Route 130. Turn left at end of ramp,
follow 130 into Sandwich (about a mile). Coming into village, see pond on left, then a traffic island; bear left, brining you directly in front of Town Hall. Immediate left after Town Hall onto Grove St. (You've circle the pond, it will still be on left.) Museum ca. 1 mile later on Grove, on left.
from Western and northern suburbs, take 128 South to 93, to Route 24 South to Route 495 South. (or just take 128 to 495) 495 changes name to Route 25 near the Cape. Cross Bourne Bridge. At rotatry, go almost all the way around to Route 6. Follow 6 along Cape Cod Canal, going under Sagamore Bridge. Less than a mile later, road merges with Route 6A. A mile later, take Route 130 bearing right. Watch for oval sign for Heritage Plantation of Sandwich.
Hope to see you there!
