I wanted to say something along those lines after seeing Dave's comment too. 
There is a CD out called 'TheArk and the Ankh'- Sun Ra and Henry Dumas recorded 
in conversation in 1966. Listening to Ra on that, you can clearly see where his 
cultural referents lie, and it certainly ain't Yiddishkeit.

Nonetheless, this takes nothing away from the man- even adds to him- one of the 
greatest ever...

  One last question. Now that the Jewish punk question has been brought up, can 
we get some more feedback on that. My interest is really in that area. Lenny 
Kaye, Richard Hell, Joey Hyman "Ramone," the Circle Jerks etc. etc.
