An additional comment on this, from someone who lost her whole hard drive to 
a virus at one point: If you assume that, sometime in the future, you WILL 
have a wipe-out, and you make a habit of doing very good back-ups, then you 
won't be haunted by the spector of a deadly virus getting you.  Because it 
probably will.
