cimbalom playing advice

Hello list,
   I recently acquired a bukharian cimbalom (or cheng). I've never played a 
hammered dulcimer before and I am wondering if anyone has any advice on how 
to begin, i.e. drills for stickings, proper technique, accompaniment 
patterns, tuning tips, etc. Let me know if there's anybody out there. There 
aren't many cimbalom players in Montreal...
