This idea is trumpeted around with regularity, it seems.

The fact that there are numerous families, even in the USA and in Israel
(where Yiddish was delibrately depricated) whose home language persists as
Yiddish and that a secular culture still persists seems irrelevant. After
all, these folks are only Jews ...
