Sy came to see my band a few times in Las Vegas.  Very energetic back then, 
but I know that he was very sick with leukemia two years ago.  There was a 
feature on him on NPR a few years back where he walked a reporter through a 
typical day of his schedule when he was at the top of his form - every 
possible type of recording and performance you could imagine!  He never was a 
"klezmer," though - only for the Katz recordings.  -Hankus

Zentner also recorded on his own and had a huge hit in the 60's with "Up A 
Lazy River" on Liberty Records. He was very much in demand as a studio 
musician, and whenever a part called for trombone, we was always the musician 
of choice.
That's his trombone in the opening of the Gold Record of "Mr. Blue" by The 
Fleetwoods.
