Is Max Bruch Jewish?
This German composer (1838-1920) was named Max Christian Friedrich, odd
enough for a Jew.
But then he also wrote a Kol Nidrei for cello and orchestra.
Bruch was not a Jew. But he wrote (on command of the Liverpool Jewish
Community) several beautiful "Jewish" pieces, including Kol Nidre (1881).
I can send you a full biography in French, if useful.
