A LAST MINUTE REMINDER FOR A REALLY GREAT EVENT!
Eighth Annual ‘A TASTE OF HONEY’ Evening of Jewish Learning
Saturday, January 26th, 2002
A TASTE OF HONEY - evening of adult Jewish learning,
featuring an exciting list of over 40 mini-courses on diverse Jewish
subjects, is scheduled for Saturday evening, January 26, 7:15 p.m. The
event owes its overwhelming success to high-caliber course offerings
designed for everyone from the beginner to the seasoned learner. This
event annually draws over 600 participants. The evening’s schedule
includes two sessions of one-hour courses taught by esteemed local faculty.
Havdalah, refreshments and Yiddish, Klezmer and Israeli music by Nefesh.
The event, sponsored by the Department of Jewish Education of the Jewish
Federation of Greater New Haven with the cooperation of the Jewish
Community Center of Greater New Haven and the Greater New Haven Board
of Rabbis, will be held at the
JCC, 360 Amity Road, Woodbridge
(The snow date is Sunday, January 27).
“Each year, hundreds of people come in out of the cold and into the
warmth of learning in a community and educational experience,” commented
Department of Jewish Education Director Sydney Perry. “They are drawn by
our well respected faculty that includes local rabbis, professors from a
number of universities, and Jewish educators. The program’s amazing
success is due, in no small part, to the learners who attend,
challenging us each year to create a wide variety of new and innovative
course offerings.”
January’s program will include courses such as Christians and Jews
Together: Can You Have an Honest Interfaith Dialogue? with Rabbi Herb
Brockman; Take My Tsuris, Please! A Lighter Look at Dealing with
Personal Sadness and Distress. . . with Joyce Saltman and Rabbi Yossi
Yaffe; Being a Jew In France with Professor Paula Hyman and The Truth
About Trees: Judaism and Environmentalism with Rabbi Gloria Rubin.
A TASTE OF HONEY is open to the community; suggested contribution is
$10. A popular youth activity program is available for children 4 -10
for a fee of $5 per child.
