JEWISH WEB SITES: Songs of Modzitz

By Rabbi Ezra Rozenfeld

The contribution of the Chassidim of Modzitz to Jewish music is
acknowledged around the world. It is very pleasant to find an internet site
where it is possible to hear so many of the wonderful tunes that have
become classics of Jewish music. Songs by the "Imrei Shaul" and by
Ben-Tzion Shenker appear, as does the everlasting "Ani Ma'amin," which was
composed on a train on the way to Treblinka (included in the site is the
story of how the song was written and then passed along). While some of the
songs are from old records, as far as I am concerned this only adds to the
exhilarating experience.
