After hearing raves from several friends, I have finally gotten a copy of an
album by the Israeli group, Teapacks. I'm very impressed. Reminds me a bit of
"Atrash 3" of a few years ago. Very interesting lyrics relating directly to
growing up Moroccan in an Israeli development town. Musically, they aren't
breaking any new ground (or at least, I'm not hearing it on first listen),
unless you count the fusion of relatively straightforward western pop/rock
structure with Mizrahi melodies and the use of what sounds like an accordion
(which is, um, definitely =unique= in that context--oud+accordion, anyone?).
I'm told that a good started album is "your life in a laffa" Anyone know more
about the band?
