Thank you very much for your detailed information.
>From this it would appear to me that the original tune
was either composed by Sirota, or that the tune was based
on some pre-existing East European cantorial "tradition."
Comparing the Hershman rendition to Sirota's,
it seems that the section "Vezarakti 'Aleichem"
forms the core of the tune.
