Re: Happy Anniversary

..... and seven years later, Slay and and a man named Bill Holmes produced #1
record called "Incense And Peppermints" with a band with which I was briefly
associated, called The Strawberry Alarm Clock.

Jack Bielan

(alarm clocks are kosher, aren't they? Not sure about strawberries).

P.S. Happy to report that the three concerts we've done so far at the
University of Judaism
in Los Angeles have gone wonderfully. Great crowds, incredible
response.... even to
the funk and gospel stuff we're including. The singers are wailing,
the rhythm section
is on fire, and the horn section is slamming. Even the string quartet
is having a great
time. As for me.... pretty much overwhelmed with gratitude for the
opportunity
and the response to my music. I'm convinced that the efforts of people
like Craig Taubman
to do truly contemporary-oriented Jewish music in L.A. help pave the
way.

About four hundred-plus people per show; two standing ovations out of
three... with one
more to go on Tuesday night. And I learned at the first show to stop
talking so much and
have more trust in the music to get its message accross. Second show
was forty-five
minutes shorter than the first.... and even better received.

      What a concept.
