ANNOUNCEMENT:
Dr. Alex Lubet, Morse Alumni Distinguished Professor of Music
and Jewish and American Studies will be the presenter at the
November 11 University of Minnesota Hillel faculty brunch.
His topic will be 'Wolf Krakowski: The Last Yiddish Bluesman.'
This talk will examine the use of blues aesthetics and expressive
strategies in Krakowski's recorded performances of classic Yiddish
song ('Transmigrations': 'Gilgul' -- Tzadik Records).
In addition to having written on a variety of American and Jewish topics,
Lubet has had extensive access to the artist's archives and conducted
numerous personal interviews as part of his research. Lubet's extended
study of Krakowski's artistry will appear in POLIN 16 (2003).
The brunch takes place at 10 A.M. U of Minnesota Hillel is located at
