Khevre,
I am trying to obtain a copy of the Israeli release "Ayelet Hen, Piyyut,
Romance, and Kantiga from the Cultural Collection of the Sephardic Jews"
(Details below.) If any dealers listening in can source it, please let me
know. (If not, if any Israelis can be of some assistance please let me know
off list.)
I also could use some aid ordering some German and Austrian recordings,
since my German is non-existent and the CDs I seek are not available in the
US. Again, if a lister from either of those countries is able to help out,
kindly contact me off list.
Best,
Joel
Daniel Akiva and Avner Perez, "Ayelet Hen, Piyyut, Romance, and Kantiga
from the Cultural Collection of the Sephardic Jews". Produced in cooperation
with Kol Israel Radio and The Israel Education Ministry, Administration for
Society and Youth. [Hebrew]. Available from Shlomo Ventura, Wing for
Sephardic and Oriental
Jewish Heritage, The Israel Education Ministry, Administration for
Society and Youth,2 Devorah Hanevia Street, Room 530, Jerusalem, Israel. In
addition to
this impressive collection of Sephardic songs, which was produced to inform
Israeli
students about Sephardic music, the CD jacket contains explanations and
examples of
different forms of Sephardic music. Amongst the vocalists are Avraham Perera,
Cochava Levi, and Rivka Raz. Accompaniment was peformed by Haim Tsur, the
orchestra led by
Tzvi Caspi, the ensembles conducted by Shimon Cohen and Eitan Avitsur.
There are also recordings of the deceased eminent Sephardic musician and
cantor Yitzhak Levi. The musical
arrangements were written by some of the most talented composers of
Judeo-Spanish
music in Israel today. Daniel Akiva's orchestration of the music added
greatly to the general
format, and the poetic style and taste of Avner Perez contributed to the
rich content of the
selections.
