Re -release with Bonus tracks
London Cast of "Fiddler on The Roof"
"Fiddler On The Roof" opened in London in 1967 and became an immediate
hit--and Chaim Topol an international star. This newly re-released London
Cast production contains not only all the selections from the hit play, but
also includes 5 "bonus" tracks of some of the tunes in their early
developmental stages featuring composer Jerry Bock on piano with his ideas on
some of the new tunes that "might" fit in the show.
On one of the track, Jerry Bock plays a tune and tells his lyricist, Sheldon
Harnick, that he thinks it could be "Tevey's Theme,". That song eventually
became "Sabbath Prayer". What eventually became "Sunrise Sunset" is VERY
different from it's original concept...and had nothing to do with Sabbath.
'We Haven't Missed A Sabbath Yet" was to be the original opening of the
show...fortunately is was replaced with "Tradition"!
This CD will give you an insight into the creative development on one of the
most popular musicals of all time!
By the way, the Original Film Soundtrack of "Fiddler On The Roof" is now out
of print!
