Re: tune source : Shtiler Shtiler from House of MirthI don't know about the
novel, but here's the first line of the All Movie Guide's synopsis of the movie:
Adapted for the screen from Edith Wharton's much-loved novel of the same name,
House of Mirth follows the fortunes - or lack thereof - of Lily Bart, an
ambitious but financially imperiled young woman looking for a rich husband in
early 20th century New York.
Wharton's life was apparently 1862-1937

I have probably have missed something in the discussion on "Shtiler,
Shtiler". Are we talking about the Holocaust song "shtiler, shtiler (lomir
shvaygn) words by Shmerke Katcherginski, music by Olek Volkoviski. That song
was used in "House of Mirth"? Isn't that novel about the 19th century? - Itzik
