Two relevant suggestions:
1) Though not by a Jewish composer, Profkofiev's "Overture on Hebrew
Themes," for a chamber ensemble consisting of clarinet, string quartet, and
piano, is based on Jewish folk melodies taught to Prokofiev by the virtuoso
clarinetist Simeon (Simon) Bellison, and features a solo (klezmerish in
melody) dance by the clarinet.
2) Sandra should *certainly* acquire, if she doesn't already have, the
double-CD "Esquisses Hebraiques: Clarinet Quintets on Jewish Themes,"
performed by Dieter Klocker with the Vlach Quartet Prague. (It appears to
be a German recording on the cpo [?] label, # 999 630-2.)
Hope that helps --
Robert Cohen
I am a non-Jew who happens to really enjoy Jewish

>music (solo and chamber works) by Jewish clarinet composers (particularly
>new music). My listing is increasing all of the time, but I would like to
>search as many avenues as possible.
