Re: Negiya and the lure of the forbidden

I can't help it!
Halakhically, it's not at all like negiya, but...
the motif of alluring and forbidden, but irresistible contact
in America's cold climates has been aptly described by
Jean Shepherd and Garrison Keillor, albeit about bare skin
and frozen metal.

Maybe we can connect this thread to Bert and Seth's musings
about Jewish music in out-of-the-way Midwestern and New England
small towns (like Lake Wobegon, MN). I also want to evoke the memory,
one which many of us share, of the wintertime community that appeared
like Brigadoon once a year in frozen Parksville, NY.

Reminds me if when "I walked ten miles to the kheder in the snow."
